We have had our system for just over 4 years. No issues to report. This company is very solid and has great integrity. The initial consultation was completed on site and documents estimates were supplied in writing. All applications/ permits etc were completed by the company for utility review. Any questions we had were addressed immediately. Once on site the workers were polite, organized and very neat. All materials and garbage secured and hauled away. Installation was professional and every effort was made to keep service wires hidden. Although you may find cheaper panels, make sure you are comparing the same quality of units as they are not all the same. Our system runs seamless and you don't even know it is there. Challenges *Confirm with you insurance company that they will insure your home after the installation. * Make sure all your application for inspections are complete can take a few months for utility to inspect. *Confirm your meter is changed by the authority. Again very solid company with great results. I have no issues recommending the company for installation and service.

When I started seeing ads for solar panels popping up years ago I started to do some research. I quickly found out that there were so many companies in NS to choose from. I called around to a few which were helpful but thankfully I called Watts Up Solar and I wished they were my first call. They know their stuff!!! They answered every question without hesitating and walked me through every step with ease. When they took care of all of the paperwork to get the NS rebate, it was so comforting as I was expecting a lot of headaches with being on hold and complicated government forms. What a time saver! They treat you like family and really put the time and effort in to make you confident you made the right choice hiring them. It has been just over 5 years since we have had our panels installed and I still call Mike up from time to time with a question or for advice and he still remembers what street I live on! If you are thinking about getting solar panels you have to give these guys a call. They are the best!

Update: We are happy solar owners awaiting final NSPI inspection. The quotes were competitive but we chose Watts Up Solar. We had a bad experience with a Huawei string inverter and lost 8 months of production over a couple of complete shutdowns. The newer string inverters are improved but the sales line of "if one microinverter goes down the rest stay up" stuck in the mind. And the IQ controller for battery add on allows sun to power the home during outages, of course depending on the "production" in the period. We have two Bluetti battery generators that would benefit from any sun hours and could add batteries later. But budget was tight so next round for "back up". Enphase with 9.2 KW (20 x 460w Heliene panels) fit our roof. Had hoped for 10.1 kw, but because of other efficiency upgrades and more to come our demand was lower then expected so it challenges me to "tighten up". It should be very close! Watts Up came all the way to Cape Breton so scheduling was understandably a tad chaotic and winter stayed late but seems a common trend as the industry is launching incredibly fast. The install was incredibly fast and no glitches. The system turned "on" first attempt. 2 days. The installer(s) were very knowledgeable and sales were not "pushy" and worked with us if issues popped up and to chat design and tech stuff which I enjoy with my background of Electronic Engineering Technology. Was the right pick for us in chosing Watts Up and in testing everything looks like a big thumbs up. Once budget allows we'll be returning for at least the controller. The CGH loan is what our average monthy bill would be at 0% for 10 years. Solar is incredible investment and monthly billing security. For just under $200/month it covers heat, power and hotwater and in 10 years will be free for the 15 years left on warranty. Only constructive critic, no points deducted...text on route if unplanned. As mentioned the industry is under some pressures as it grows and solar installers are super loaded in this season especially. And being 6 hrs away!

If this company is looking for a salesperson, its me! After many hours of research, phone calls and competitive quotes. It was one thing that Jamie Rendle said that closed the deal, "we won't sell you a system that won't perform the way it needs to in order to justify the cost. Behind those trees you'll only get 60% efficiency. We won't do it. Its unethical." After all the multiple contacts by sales outfits that are currently getting in on the trend of solar power generation, who sell you things you don't need, and then offer mid-quality products because they bought a shipment of them and need to unload them, Watts Up is by far a quality company. They had newer and better product come in than they had quoted and because it was better we needed fewer panels so they dropped the price. And...have I mentioned the installation teams yet? The crew who put up the racking, the crew who put on the panels and the fabulous electrician Mark who wrapped it all up in a nice bow were fabulous to work with. Even when we messed up the install, they fixed our mess. You won't find a better quality company. And they are based right here in the Annapolis Valley. Who knew we had such a great team right here. If you are interested in installing solar, they are the first and last place to look. If they are hiring, give them my number!

I had my solar system installed in 2023, due to component shortage it was delayed slightly, but they still managed to meet the end deadline. In 2024, I detected a failure within a component system. It was narrowed down to a panel or an inverter. Watts up Solar started looking into the issue the same day I brought it to their attention. It took less than 1 week to narrow down the component (panel or inverter. It turned out to be the inverter), file a warranty claim, replace the component, to bring my system back to full working out. This made me feel like I made the right choice with my system installer, Watts Up, knowing warranty would be honored. The Enphase system monitor is super accurate, comparing it to NS powers meter reading, they differ less than 100 kw per year.

For anyone that is looking for a solar installation. Watt's Up Solar is the one to go to in my opinion. Mike Rendle and his team are on the ball. He looked after all the permits and dealing with the mafia better known as NS Power. The system has performed great. Only thing is I wish I had got more panels installed. We had an issue with one panel and contacted Watt's Up for a repair. Turned out one of the inverters had failed. Took a couple of weeks to get it changed out but that panel is producing a slightly better amount of electricity now. But all in all a good experience. Other solar companies wanted to charge to do the paper work for solar city or refused to. But Mike handled it all. I plan on building off grid next year if possible and will be considering them for the install. I highly recommend them.

After deciding to move ahead with solar, we obtained quotes from three companies, before signing with Wattsup Solar. We are so happy with our decision. Wattsup installed our solar system in June 2024, 6 months prior to this review. Every team member was professional and knowledgeable of all aspects of the installation and products, such that, we felt we were dealing the company’s owner directly - a rare experience in todays market. They truly work as a cohesive team. Although sufficient time has not passed to determine the system’s cost effectiveness, we are happy with the solar production and it is mirroring the estimate provided in Wattsup Solar’s proposal. It was a true pleasure dealing with Wattsup Solar team. We highly recommend them for your solar project; you will not be disappointed.

12.15Kw DC 27 BS-120M Panels and IQ8A Inverters 13.5 kWh batteries Short statement: Highly recommended and encourage anybody in Annapolis valley to look at Tom and his team when considering Solar. The entire team was a pleasure to work with. Long statement: Tom was accessible, sometimes at short notice, and responsive to questions and concerns. We decided to go with Watts Up Solar after acquiring four proposals, and theirs was the most responsive to our needs and was on par for cost. We made the strategic decision to source our system from none-Asian markets to reduce the possibility of international chaos interfering with our system. So panels are German and controls and batteries are American. Our system is a little different than the standard system as we have 13.5 kWh of battery storage. This means that in the event of a power failure we have instantaneous switching. The batteries also provide power after the sun sets. Batteries can be set to stop supplying at a preferred percentage, or fully charged in anticipation of a storm.

I am a happy owner of solar panels now and I benefit from them not only in the summer, but also on sunny days in winter. We began our solar journey looking into quotes in fall of 2021. We chose Watts Up because of: a) Multi inverter system b) Competitive price c) Responsive to enquiries, questions etc (we had no previous knowledge of Solar systems) d) Online reviews. There was typical back and forth by email and phone re # panels, best system, estimated payback time etc during the fall and at the end of October, decided to use Watts Up and request the instal in Spring 2022. The paperwork was all handled by Watts Up for contract, NSP Interconnection and Efficiency NS rebate application and was completed in November 2021. The news of Efficiency NS lowering the rebate in December of 2021 (effective January 2022), sent us back to Watts Up to see if we still qualified for $6K rebate and to confirm that the Province had our paperwork in time, which they promptly confirmed for us. The install was completed including inspections from NS Power early June 2022 and we’re completely satisfied with the whole install. The two chaps who came to install the racking were professional, courteous, even began late on a Friday afternoon for an hour, and back on Monday to complete. Brian, their electrician is a CAN DO kind of guy. Our electrical metre is probably about 20 feet from our utility room, so Brian had to be creative in how to install the Solar connection panel in the utility room and feed the wiring out to the outside connection. He is indeed a valuable member of the team. NSP inspections went well, all was completed in a timely manner. Mike came to the house after the install to explain the bill (exactly as quoted), and how the rebate timing works and to discuss the app. Tom is extremely quick with responses to emails with any concerns. In Spring, when I reached out to ask when we were scheduled to start, he responded the same day, and gave me an overview of the timing of the project. The project went as he indicated and we are delighted to have chosen Watts Up Solar. They are a fabulous family run business in Nova Scotia and we are happy to support our local businesses.

Excellent experience! Mike, Sharron, Tom of the Watts Up team installed 20 panels for us and now the meter is chugging along in the astern direction - a nice change. We had a big challenge with the configuration of our system due to the height of the structure. Mike came well prepared for the challenge. Fantastic effort and fantastic results. Mike was prompt to answer any questions and guide me throughout the entire process. Only downside was then time of year when we installed - fall approaching the winter solstice. Thanks Wattsup Solar for the excellent experience.

Tom and Watts up were the only company we obtained estimates from who suggested putting panels on our large shed, in addition to putting panels high on the roof of our house. This allowed for a larger system - although still small - and one that hopefully will overcome many of the shade challenges that we face. James was thorough in his assessment of my needs, especially as the project had to complement my existing whole home standby generator. The symmetry in the system design was very much to my liking, and the stages of the installation were conducted courteously and with attention to detail by the installers and Brian the electrician. The Watts Up team also handled all the paperwork and liaison with Nova Scotia Power very well. The first year of operation has been a joy, with no issues. It was truly a pleasure to have Watts Up complete the solar installation on my property, and I would heartily recommend them for your solar project.

The team at Watts Up Solar installed our system a month before this review and we are thrilled with the results. The installation occurred across a busy summer season with a heat wave and a hurricane interceding but the 30 solar panels which had just been installed 3 weeks earlier were unaffected. Can't say the same about some of our trees! Our home is a 24 year old R-2000 all electric property which was already twice as efficient as an all electric (non R2000 home of the same square footage) located nearby. We started looking 5 years ago to reduce our 25,000 annual KWh footprint and installed heat pumps that paid for themselves in that period, reducing the footprint to 15,000 Kwh. Now with only one month the solar production is indicating we will further reduce our footprint to zero in the first year. From a value perspective the solar system is giving us instant ROI as we are just redirecting our monthly electricity expense to pay for the system. Whether it's going green or saving money it's clear solar panels are a major part of the solution and it no longer means that going green means 'more expensive', with the right solution as provided by Watts Up Solar. They not only provided us with proof that it would work for us, but handled all of the paperwork, installation and inspections. A complete turn key system implemented at a competitive system price. Who does that anymore? Great company and exceptional installation.

When I contacted them, they responded almost immediately. They are knowledgeable, efficient and great people to deal with. They take care of everything. I really just signed the paperwork! We had to wait a little longer than we thought for installation but that was because of the miserable spring weather we had and the fact that this company is very busy. Contrary to others, they showed interest in making us part of the Solar Family more than simply coming after our money. All questions were answered (and I had a lot) with respect and good logical answers. The Rendle's were above par through the entire process and thereafter when I had questions relating to the performance and operation of the system installed. The system they installed is reliable and we had no issue since its install in March 2021. I would do it all over again with WattsUp Solar.

Watts Up is a great solar company! I have been so happy with my results! They did most of the start up paper work, making the purchase relatively easy. And I have been getting 70% of my yearly electricity from my panels for the last 4 years as they predicted. My panels were installed early enough that they didn't put up critter guards in the initial installation (they always do, now), and the pigeons came and nested under the panels. But Watts Up came, removed the panels, cleaned the roof, and replaced the panels with critter guard. Instantly I had fewer pigeons. They are still wondering what happened, but mostly gone! Thanks, Watts Up!

We recently had our Solar install completed by Watts Up Solar and are very happy with the overall experience. Jamie was quick to respond to numerous questions easily on and throughout the process and the installers were very friendly and professional. We had one small issue early in the install, which was correctly promptly by the installers, once brought to his attention and our electrician Marc was superb and allowed us to find a wire routing option that hid most of the wire and worked for both parties. We would have liked to have more panels but our hip roof would not allow any more good placements and Jamie was very ethical not to oversell us, stating that he knew that any locations would not provide good value. I should add that they took care of everything including permits, and helped us through the process of what we needed to do like booking home energy assessments, which really made it painless.

My initial contact was by email with a prompt response and within a week the part was installed in about 15 minutes. Jamie Rendle ( the Wattsup Solar owner ) activated the new inverter remotely minutes after it was installed and emailed me confirmation that it was working properly.
