A Simpler Route to Energy Upgrades
The Switch West Hants program is open to residential property owners in West Hants Regional Municipality whose property taxes are up to date. Homeowners can contact the program before or after receiving contractor quotes.
6.45% Fixed
The interest rate is fixed for the full loan term when the participation agreement is signed.
Longer Solar Term
Solar projects have a 15-year term. Other eligible energy-efficiency upgrades have a 10-year term.
Property Based
Financing is tied to the property. The maximum is $40,000 or 25% of assessed value, whichever is lower.
Guided Support
An Energy Concierge helps homeowners with project planning, quotes, financing, and available incentives.
How the Program Works
- Contact Switch West Hants. You can reach out before or after receiving solar quotes.
- Choose your quote. The program prepares the participation and financing paperwork with the homeowner.
- Wait for work approval. Installation should begin only after the homeowner and contractor receive the program's authorization email.
- Complete the installation. The contractor submits the final invoice to the program.
- Sign the Certificate of Completion. Once the homeowner and contractor confirm the work is satisfactory, contractor payment follows within 30 days.
